| dc.description | This text is devoted to those students in economics who study basic linear
algebra. These are short notes for the course Linear Algebra (60A105). The
goal of the notes is to help students in preparing for the written tests and
the exam.
We assume only minimal basic knowledge. However, knowledge of high
school material is essential for understanding and learning our new concepts.
Of course, in a subject such as this, reading is not enough. Practice is also
necessary, which is one of the main emphases of the book. It is about methods
and their application. There are three aspects of this provided by this book:
description, solved examples and exercises. All three are important, but the
most important of these is the exercises, because in mathematics you do not
know a concept until you can use it.
The solved examples are integrated with the text, and the careful reader
will follow the examples through at the same time as reading the descriptive
