dc.description | Embedded intelligent systems can be treated from “embedded” or "intelligent” angle. The curriculum puts the emphasis on the second one. Embedded technologies do not support automatically the emergence of intelligence. To do so, one must explore the possibilities of the general Artificial Intelligence, taking into account limitations and constraints of the technologies and the typical applications. Such limitations affect primarily the abstract knowledge management leading to the conceptually new and involved tasks, like:how to “implement intelligence”,what part of human intelligence feed the “embedded” demands of the artificial systems, how could intelligence utilize the “embedded” technologies to provide novel services.
The syllabus reviews the traditional AI technologies from the perspective of ambient intelligent applications: smart homes and intelligent spaces. Building blocks like embedded systems, multi agent systems, and intelligent sensor networks are presented. Based on it knowledge intensive topics of cooperativeness, autonomy, agent-human interactions, knowledge intensive processing in intelligent spaces, sensor fusion, and user activity prediction and recognition are discussed in detail, with examples an applications. | en_EN |
